"You came so that you could learn about your dreams," said the old woman. "And dreams are the language of God. When he speaks in our language, I can interpret what he has said. But if he speaks in the language of the soul, it is only you who can understand." (Paulo Coelho)
When I was in Australia, I saw a strange view that I never seen before in Indonesia. There are a lot of old people who walked alone in the town. They do anything by themselves without any young people helped them. At that moment, I was wonder, why these old people walk alone, don’t they have somebody to take care of, like what happen in Indonesia where the old people will be taken care by their family members. I asked my host family about what actually happen to that old people. Then, they said that, in Australia all of us will choose to live alone than live with their family. Until at that afternoon, I really remember when we were invited to have afternoon tea to our neighbor. Their names are Beth and John. My host family said if they were living alone there and sometimes my host family take care of them because they have been consider as their owns parents. My host parents tell me if John is a little bit deaf so that we have to speak louder with him and Beth has been suffering in Parkinson. When I arrived at Beth’s and John’s House, I was very surprised because Beth seems like can’t control her body, she was very shaking because she has gotten Parkinson that attack half of her brain and make her hard to control her body, but she was very smart and she still talk about a lot of things. Sometimes when she was trying to stop the shaking, suddenly, she couldn’t even move anymore. Yet, even thought she has disability, she still trying to walk to welcome us. After we were pleased to seat, we have a little bit conversation and Beth try to make us some of tea. Than my host family said that if does Beth need any help? Because we could see she was trying very hard walked to the kitchen. But, confidently, Beth said that if she needn’t any help, she can do it by herself. At that time, honestly, I just can’t believe of what I was seeing. It was very out of my logical thinking, how could a very old women (she is about more than 80 years old ) and suffer with the Parkinson can still have the willingness to live like a young and normal people. But, she does. It embraces me very much, because sometimes I have never been grateful of what I have, and what I can do is only complaining about what I can’t do and just give up easily. But, look at this wonderful woman; in her disability she still can face her life confidently and gratefully. I never meet with the people like this before. Amazingly, when they were young they had travelled a lot around this word. May be that what make them very independent and shape them as the people who can appreciate every second of their life. I really remember the word that Beth said if she has a power, she would like to make people realize if they need to travel to see the world. Yeah, traveling is the best thing that you can do when you have a chance to live in this world. Because the more you travel the more you can appreciate yourself and the others and when you getting old you have a lot of stories to told to young people which is mean you have a reason why you should live in this word by benefiting the other’s life.
